Pregnant women require 800-1200mg per day, with the higher amount required during the second trimester when baby's bones are forming. Breast feeding women require 1200mg daily.

Solgar's Calcium Magnesium Citrate Tablets can be used to boost calcium intake at a time of increased need. Each tablet provides 200mg of elemental calcium and 100mg of elemental magnesium.

Dosage:
Adults:Take 2 to 5 tablets daily depending on personal requirements.
Children 12 years and older: Take one tablet daily.
Health Information: Our bones contain more than 99% of our body's calcium and act as a calcium reservoir maintaining constant blood calcium levels. If the diet has insufficient calcium, it will be drawn from your bones and teeth. Babies bones are forming during the middle trimester of pregnancy (3 to 6 months) increasing the mother's daily calcium demand to 1200mg. A best source of calcium is dairy products, although calcium is also found in tofu, almonds, sunflower seeds, dried figs, kale and spinach. An early sign of calcium deficiency is muscle spasms and leg cramps. Calcium deficiency in children results in bone deformities and growth retardation. In adults it leads to softening of the bones. Calcium citrate is considered to be better absorbed compared with calcium carbonate.
